Plagues 03:32
PLAGUES I preach to you a revelation Of the end of the world And how it became In crossing over The obstacles that lay in front of you They burn brightly But be weary of the smoke That will bind and blind you in its clutches Consuming you I will show you the end of the world And the depths of a hallowed winter You will hear the silence An unrelenting static As it decimates And desecrates your kingdoms Blame your fucking selves You will feel the wrath of the plagues As they reign down (reigning down) On this tortured earth In pain and suffering You will leave this earth And it will flourish into paradise On a wasteland Free of man made structures You were just a scourge A visceral virus Spreading like a cancer Through the veins of a beleaguered world You will feel the wrath of the plagues As they reign down (reigning down) On this tortured earth You waited for everything to be stripped away Before you opened your ignorant eyes To this tragedy Hollow shells Wander the dark wasteland that was once Filled with glory One by one Claimed into the darkest depths Of the human conscience I will show you the end of the world

Exitium 03:45
EXITIUM So it begins We feel the light dance upon our faces As we emerge from the shadows Into the blinding light Under the searing sun We take our first steps Onto glistening plains On a world brimming with life In a land of sustenance No one would go hungry Free of conflict This is a world without peace, Without the monarchs to try and take control Under the searing sun Struggling with every footstep Pillaging the earth for every natural resource To sustain our hunger for life Clearing out the world to Make room for our devices That will lead to the apocalypse Burn everything to ashes To sustain our vulnerable species And become the alpha race Burn all the surroundings Everything unknown Competing for greatness Stepping on each other to get by The dawn of mankind Brings suffering onto the world Humanity is a disease That is biding for their demise For your demise
3.
Atreus 03:40
ATREUS You’ve never witnessed a hunger Of this magnitude Or felt the insatiable desire to be A monarch for the people The unrelenting leader For the sheep who are willing to follow In your footsteps To their impending demise You will follow my every word My every desire For the sheep who will follow To the end of your lives You will stand in line, to behold The system set in stone Once the flames are extinguished There will be no more fleeing For the rats who bow to my throne I will beat them to obey The treacherous warlords Who kneel down before me With all but fists, on this corrupt, stolen world See the lies, feel the hate Stand in line for your demise The powers of reason and persuasion Ignite the fire that consumes this world This corrupt, stolen world You will obey me My words are carved in stone And on the chests of those who do not obey I will strike down upon those Who do not bend to my will It is a steel and cold world On the shoulders of power See the lies, feel the hate Stand in line for your demise The powers of reason and persuasion Ignite the fire that consumes this world Consumes this world You will obey You will stand in line To amuse the tyrants You are fucking peasants When you hear my name, You all crawl and hide You will not suppress me I am what you fear You will not suppress me I am what you fear
4.
Doomsayers 04:20
DOOMSAYERS This world is dead Consumed by flames Fueled by treacherous violence In the fists of the righteous men, we will suffer We will suffer, under the blood red moon Destroyed, sent to oblivion Under the mist of the bloody corrupted haze The corpses, they build up into a mountain of flesh Rotting as they fall into the earth This is the fate of man As we walk from the shadows past We descend deeper in darkness The stench of decay fills the air As we rot in our graves We bring the end to life By our own defiant hands This is madness, bleed for tyrants Ashes rain onto the plains Scorched earth is all that remains Earth slowly blackens, consumed by the oceans We are broken men We breathe our final breath in vain, on this day Human life will fade away Into the pits with charred remains Earth slowly blackens Consumed by the oceans This is the fate of man Suffer in darkness, alone Falling in masses We burn alive We never thought That this would be the end of humanity But darkness reigns over as mankind dies today Blood thirsty, war scarred you all will bleed And sacrifice your bodies even if you die in vain And wear your scars proudly as the battle rages on Never should you think that this is for the sake of man We would tear ourselves to pieces To be showered with gold We are all faceless In this world Judgment day is here.
5.
Ethereal 05:25
ETHEREAL I held the world in the palm of my hand Before I gazed at the stars And drew my last breath Ascending from my physical being (Ascend) Into a place Where greed and corruption do not reign supreme Into a place Where everything is one with the earth (One with the earth) This is a place Where time stands still, yet nothing stops We were just vibrations in the tides of time A reflection in a puddle The size of a teardrop There is no sadness or happiness There is only vibrations As we sifted through the sands of time We float in the silence that is serenity The infinite void beyond this earth, We claimed, will consume me I held the world in the palm of my hand (hand) And I watched it all slip away (away) I gazed at the stars in the sky And wondered what could have been And wondered what could have been We could rebuild our lives And not raise our hands to fight We float in the silence that is serenity The infinite void beyond this earth We claimed, will consume me I held the world in the palm of my hand (hand) And I watched it all slip away (away) I gazed at the stars in the sky And wondered what could have been If we survived long enough to realize We were just ripples in the oceans of time In the blink of an eye I held the world in the palm of my hand And I watched it all slip away I gazed at the stars in the sky And wondered what could have been I held the world in the palm of my hand And I watched it all slip away I gazed at the stars in the sky And wondered what could have been

about

Review by Ricky Aarons - The Sludge Factory

Usually when a small local band releases their first EP with a subsequent music video, there is some level of recognition and a wink of support from friends and family. TEMPORAL had 2000 views on their music video for ‘Plagues’ within a 24 hour period. The Perth band have released ‘Exitum’: a five-track showcase of what they can throw down with exceptional musical talent and careful production and mastery. The EP is metalcore based with strains of deathcore thrown in as the band divulge into a heavier realm of metal.
The EP is set off by their stand-out track ‘Plagues’ packed with melodic riffs, deafening drums and a chaotic combination of inhale and exhale vocals by Scott McMullen. The constant variation continually demonstrates his vocal range in addition to the well-structured chords. The breakdowns and bass-drops alone add a heavy-as-hell edge to this masterpiece.
‘Atreus’ is a song that brings out the symmetry and co-ordination of the two guitarists in a very stand-out way. The riffs are clean-cut and brilliantly produced for a debut release compared to some other Australian newcomers. Again, McMullen’s vocal squeal is juxtaposed to his menacing growl contributing to the unique aesthetic of this band. The instrumental chords control this track with speed and melody – a beautiful sound to the metal ear.
The title track ‘Exitum’ commences with an IN FLAMES styled introduction until the ‘core’ body takes over the mechanics. After about a minute of TEMPORAL’s instrumental architect of brutality, the guitars cease momentarily to welcome a deafening bass-drop which will seriously have you banging your head fiercely. The chords following are extremely groovy but fade to an acoustic piece as MAKE THEM SUFFER’s keyboardist Louisa Burton takes over from McMullen on vocals to close the track harmoniously with some violin thrown into the mix as well. It was a perfect element to throw into the track and at the right point as well.
‘Doomsayers’ is musically led by McMullen – one of the tracks you could classify as deathcore with noticeable influences at times from bands like BORN OF OSIRIS and CHELSEA GRIN. The breakdowns are filled with brutal levels of distortion and the vocal growl matches perfectly. This carefully structured EP closes with ‘Ethereal’ - a track bursting with controlled chaos – but only when these musicians choose to do so. It seems exceptionally artistic for a band with such heavy deathcore influences to perspire their music with such a high level of melody – even in the brutal growls by McMullen who has demonstrated the notion that ‘practise makes perfect’ throughout this EP. The last two minutes of this EP is simply a combination of talented guitar shredding with the pounding of drums ceasing to an operatic fade in conclusion.
TEMPORAL have done the worthwhile hard yards investing all they have into this EP which they will be showcasing live throughout their ‘Exitum’ campaign. This Perth band have big things ahead so support your local scene and pick this one up and get ready to have your ears bleed.
